There's no shortage of high-end Android phones these days. In fact,
manufacturers are constantly trying to one-up each other in terms of
specifications when it comes to phones, which means new models almost
every year. Still, there's something to be said for average smartphones
that cover all the bases without breaking the bank.
Huawei's Ascend G510, which is headed for the United Kingdom later this month, is just that. Aimed squarely at the budget segment, the Ascend G510
isn't a top-of-the-line phone but it packs some pretty decent specs
when you consider its low price. Based on a 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 chipset with PowerVR SGX531 graphics, the G510
boasts a 4.5-inch (480 x 854) IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 512 MB
RAM, 4GB of onboard storage, up to 32GB of storage via microSD, Wi-Fi
802.11 b/g/n, a 5MP camera with autofocus and LED flash, and Android 4.1 with Huawei's custom UI on top.
Announced in earlier this year, this phone is hitting the UK on April
12. If you're eager to get your hands on it, you better be on Vodafone
or willing to move to the network, because it's the only carrier that
will be selling the phone for the moment. Pricing is £130 on pay as you
go, which is fairly reasonable. Still, you might miss some of the
features of higher end phones.
