Despite Acer’s hushed approach to the new Iconia tab A1-810, it was briefly listed by the French retailer Rue Du Commerce. The 7.9 inch tablet will be a prime competitor for both the Nexus 7 and the iPad mini, based on the reported specifications listed by the retailer.
According to MiniMachines, who glanced the page before its removal, the iconia A1-810 will be powered by a Cortex A9 chip running at 1.2 GHz with 1 GB of Ram. While this quad core processor falls slightly under the Qualcomm and Nvidia variety, it should still be able to handle normal workload and aid in a steep price reduction. The 7.9 inch screen will also likely feature a 1024 x 768 IPS screen along with the expected 802.11n wireless capabilities, Bluetooth 4.0 support and GPS radios.
The battery is 3,250 mAh which, while being large for a phone, seems to be on the small side for a small tablet with such an intensive quad core SoC. Running on the new Android 4.2, this tablet comes with a pleasant price tag of $260, packed in a matchbox sized case 10.5 mm thick and weighing only 430 gm (15 oz). If the rumors are true, this sharply priced tablet is a sure competitor.
